Support writers
“In my adult life, I have watched the digital world explode with wonderful, amazing tools and communities for creative people. I have also watched the ability of creative people to make a real living implode. Ray Bradbury raised a family on the money he made from writing short stories for pulp magazines. Today’s writers often have to pay online magazines to consider their work. Teaching used to be a profession that could help writers pay the bills. Now, public school teaching is so restrictive that creative people are miserable there. So we teach private classes, but connecting with the parents of kids who would connect to our classes is hard. And then, of course, we can’t charge enough to make a living wage because we want students whose families can’t afford expensive classes. In other words, I need your support.”
